Homeward Bound. When Shadow comes limping out of those woods at the end of the movie—oof—gets me every time.

It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.

The New Kids on the Block’s self-titled album was not their best, but I might still have the tape in a box somewhere.

Tell us a little about what you do at ReminderMedia.
I am responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining remindermedia.com and americanlifestylemag.com as well as all of the other web pages our company needs. I also help design the e-mail templates we send out for sales and marketing campaigns and some of our social media graphics.

I love playing the drums, working out, and reading philosophy. It would be hard to narrow it down to one.

If you had a one-way time machine, what period of time would you go to? Why?
I’d be torn between solving the mysteries of the past and discovering what lies ahead in the distant future. I’d probably end up choosing the future. I want to find out how much humanity can learn about the universe and the nature of reality as science advances.

Making a positive impact wherever I go.

Hello

My name is Shana Smith

Tell us a little about what you do at ReminderMedia.
I clean all customer portrait photos received to produce print-ready high quality color output using advanced photo manipulation and color-correcting skills with an emphasis on ensuring pleasing flesh tone.  I have also begun using my photography skills and experience to help the Content Team create aesthetically pleasing photo imagery for use in our exclusive content for our customers.

What advice do you have for your fellow coworkers?
I guess my advice is directed more towards living in general, but stay focused on what really matters in life.  It’s very easy to get caught up in the rat race of life, especially in this technological age where we have become very accustomed to instant gratification which tends to breed an inundated desire for “more”.  I believe that kind of mindset creates ongoing stress, which ultimately leads to suffering.  Take time in the heat of the moment to stop and ask yourself, “when all is said and done, does this really matter?”

What is the nicest thing someone else has done for you?
During my first year at college, my car broke down on the PA turnpike while I was headed to class on the coldest day of the year, a week before Christmas.  I was panicked as I didn’t have anyone who could come get me, and I didn’t know how I was going to get to school nor get back home for the holiday break (as a poor college student, I couldn’t afford to be towed).  As luck would have it, a kind, older gentleman was parked at the emergency stop I was at. To make a long story short, my alternator was dead, and this kind gentleman followed me up to my school recharging my battery along the way when it would drain.  He even went so far as to meet me back at my school at the end of the week to follow me back to my hometown (stopping to recharge my battery about 5-6 times along the way) so I could make it home for the holidays.  He told me he had a daughter about my age who was in college in San Francisco, CA, and that he hoped that someone would help her out should something like this ever occur to her.  It was the nicest thing anyone’s ever done to help me, and from a perfect stranger no less.  That was my Christmas miracle that year.

What is your favorite hobby?
It’s tough to choose a favorite as I enjoy a plethora of activities…I get really into something for a while then get bored with it, put it aside, go on to something else, then cycle back to it.  My most recent hobby was creating beadwoven jewelry, but I also enjoy pole fitness, billiards, reading, photography, scrapbooking, painting, and drawing.

What do you miss most about being a kid?
I miss the sense of wonderment you had as a child, where things were perceived as mysterious and magical and your imagination lit on fire over the simplest things.

What is the first thing you would do with a million dollars?
Pay off my student loans and other debt; then buy a house to rent out, and use that rent money
